Selçuk Şahin — Biography

Born on January 31, 1981, in Tunceli, Selçuk Şahin is a Turkish former defensive midfielder and current football coach. He began his career at Hatayspor before moving to İstanbulspor in 2001 and then to Gençlerbirliği, where he won the Turkish Cup. In 2003 he joined Fenerbahçe, becoming a fixture in the club's midfield for 12 seasons, making over 300 official appearances and winning six Süper Lig titles, two Turkish Cups and three Turkish Super Cups. After leaving Fenerbahçe in 2015, he played for FC Wil in Switzerland before returning to Gençlerbirliği and later joining Göztepe and Ümraniyespor, retiring from playing in 2021. He also earned 25 caps and scored two goals for the Turkey national team between 2003 and 2011.

Following his retirement, Şahin moved into coaching, serving as an assistant to former teammate Emre Belözoğlu at İstanbul Başakşehir before joining the Turkey national team's coaching staff under Vincenzo Montella in 2023. In 2025 he was named head coach of Eyüpspor in the Süper Lig, a role that came to an end later that year. In the summer of 2026 he took charge of Batman Petrolspor, overseeing squad building and transfer activity as he set out to push the club up the table in the 1. Lig.
