Selda Akgöz — Biography
Selda Akgöz was born on 9 June 1993 in the town of Çaycuma in Zonguldak Province. She played handball and then volleyball at school before moving into football at a teacher's suggestion, wanting to be a goalkeeper from the start. She obtained her playing license in 2009 with Ovacık Gençlik Spor in Karabük, then moved to Fomget Gençlik Spor in Ankara, where she became team captain, made 37 appearances over three seasons, and began a university degree in physical education and sport. She transferred to Trabzon İdmanocağı in 2014-15, then to Konak Belediyespor in 2017, where she was reserve goalkeeper in the 2017-18 UEFA Women's Champions League, before moving to Kdz. Ereğlispor that same season and to Ataşehir Belediyespor in 2018. A 2020 move to ALG Spor brought a 2021-22 championship, and a return to Fomget GS in 2022 brought further titles in 2022-23 and 2024-25, along with the Best Goalkeeper award in 2023-24.
Akgöz represented Turkey at under-17, under-19 and under-21 level before making her senior debut against Georgia on 26 February 2015, and later captained the national team. She lost her mother in June 2026, and that July she joined the Beşiktaş women's football team.
