Semavi Özgür — Biography
Semavi Özgür was born on 6 February 1982 in Bulgaria, into a family belonging to the country's Turkish minority. Amid the forced-assimilation policy the Bulgarian government pursued against that minority in the late 1980s, his family joined the large wave of migration to Turkey that began in 1989 and settled in İzmir.
He began playing football at İzmir's Ceylanspor, then played for Petkimspor and Alanyaspor. Joining Kocaelispor for the 2007-08 season, he won the 1. Lig title with the club and scored two goals that season; he then played for Kocaelispor in the Süper Lig in 2008-09, though his contract was terminated midway through the season. He went on to play for MKE Ankaragücü, Manisaspor and Çaykur Rizespor, before transferring to TKİ Tavşanlı Linyitspor in the 2011-12 season.
In 2017 he signed with MKE Ankaragücü again. After his playing career he was appointed sporting director of Bornova 1877 (Viven Bornova FK) in 2023.
