Serkan Bakan — Biography

Serkan Bakan was born on 1 January 2001 in the Şehitkâmil district of Gaziantep and began playing football -- discovered, in his own words, by his father -- in Gaziantepspor's youth system. In December 2016, aged just 15, he made headlines with a goal in the Turkish Cup. He made his professional debut for Gaziantepspor on 28 May 2017, aged 16 years and 147 days, in a 4-0 Süper Lig loss to Beşiktaş, becoming the third-youngest player to debut in the league. In his second professional match, a 4-1 defeat to Antalyaspor on 2 June 2017, he scored to become the first player born in the 21st century to score in the Süper Lig.

He transferred to Göztepe in the summer of 2017, where he played for the club's youth sides, and during this period also represented Turkey at under-15 and under-18 level. Later in his career he played as a midfielder for Ağrı 1970 SK.
