Sinan Aygün — Biography

Sinan Aygün was born in 1959 in the Kelkit district of Gümüşhane province. After completing his primary, middle and high school education in Ankara, he graduated from the Department of English Language and Literature at Gazi University and went on to build a business career in construction contracting and the building-materials trade.

He served as president of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce from his election in 1997 until 2011, and between 2005 and 2011 also chaired the Chambers of Commerce Council of Turkey's Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB). In the general election of 12 June 2011 he was elected a CHP member of parliament for Ankara, entering the 24th-term Turkish parliament.

In December 2019 he resigned from the CHP following a widely covered dispute with Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş and bribery allegations that surfaced around the same time.
