Suat Okyar — Biography

Suat Okyar was born on 30 March 1972 in Istanbul. He played football as a midfielder before moving into coaching, and has built his career mainly around women's football and futsal.

He has worked as assistant coach of the Turkey national futsal team and as head coach of the Turkey women's national football team. At club level he has coached the women's football side of Beşiktaş; his appointment there drew attention in 2022, and he spoke as its head coach about matches and the team in 2023 and 2025. He is also known for saying that women footballers are hungry for knowledge and development.

Okyar is the son of Vedat Okyar (1945-2009), a former Beşiktaş player and captain who also worked as a sports writer and commentator.
