Suat Suna — Biography

Suat Suna was born on May 26, 1975, in Istanbul to violin master Mehmet Sait Suna and lawyer Tomris Suna; he took up the violin at age four, graduated from the violin department of Istanbul University's State Conservatory in 1992 and from Saint Benoit French High School in 1994, and later completed a communications degree at Maltepe University in 2002. After winning prizes in high-school music competitions, he released his debut album Ansızın Çektin Gittin in 1993, which sold close to a million copies.

He went on to collaborate with artists such as Kayahan, Işın Karaca, Aşkın Nur Yengi and Hülya Avşar, composed music for the series Erguvan Yılları and Ayşecik in 1998, and briefly tried acting in the series Zeynep. His 2002 album Su Damlası included "O Lelli," written with lyrics by Kayahan, which made him widely known in both Turkey and Azerbaijan and led to over a hundred concerts within a year. After his father's death in 2007 he wrote the elegy "Babam İçin" in his memory; following an earlier marriage to television host Melike Öcalan, he married Burcu Karaman in 2012 and the couple had two children, Ali and Neva. He published the novel İhanet in 2014 and continues to record, with twelve studio albums and more than 150 songs to his name.
