Sumru Yavrucuk — Biography

Sumru Yavrucuk was born on 27 October 1961 in Ankara. She trained first in voice and theatre in Istanbul before completing her studies at the Ankara State Conservatory. Since joining the roster of the Istanbul State Theatre in 1982, she has remained a company member there for decades, appearing in dozens of stage productions including Yalnız Kadın and Macbeth. Her screen debut came in 1988 with the series Önce Canan; she later reached wide audiences playing Feride in Yabancı Damat and Meryem Aksoy in Fatmagül'ün Suçu Ne?, and portrayed Songül in the series No:309. On the big screen she appeared in the comedy Tamam mıyız?. Over her career she has received three Afife Theatre Awards along with the İsmet Küntay Theatre Award and a Golden Orange award.
