Tarık Daşgün — Biography
Tarık Daşgün, born 26 August 1973 in Ankara, is a Turkish former international footballer and football manager; he is of Rize/Hemşin origin and graduated from Gazi University's Faculty of Sport Sciences.
He began his career in Gençlerbirliği's youth system, breaking into the first team in 1993 after a loan spell at third-tier side Yeni Turgutluspor, and moved to Fenerbahçe for a high fee after a strong 1994-95 season. Known above all for his spells at Gençlerbirliği and Fenerbahçe, Daşgün was regarded in the mid-1990s as one of the greatest talents in Turkish football; because an unsteady private life kept him from fulfilling that promise, he is often cited as a cautionary example for young players. After Fenerbahçe he played in turn for Kocaelispor, Ankaragücü, Yozgatspor, Gençlerbirliği again, Sakaryaspor and Kardemir Karabükspor, before testing positive for cannabis following a match in November 2005 and receiving a two-year ban. In 2007 he moved to Chinese club Dalian Aerbin, becoming the first Turk to play in that league, and finished his playing career at Bingöl Belediyespor in the 2007-08 season. He made his senior national team debut against Chile in 1995 and won two caps in total.
After retiring he became youth coordinator at Gençlerbirliği in 2009, then managed the club's A2 team from 2010-11 and Hacettepe from 2011-12. He had a first spell in charge of Aydınspor 1923 from January to May 2016 and managed Gümüşhanespor in 2016-17, later also coaching Fethiyespor and Bodrumspor. He was appointed head coach of Aydınspor 1923 for a second time in May 2026.
