Tayfun Pektürk — Biography

Tayfun Pektürk was born on 13 May 1988 in Wermelskirchen, Germany, to a family that had emigrated there. He spent part of his childhood between Istanbul and Cologne and is a committed Beşiktaş supporter. He started playing in 1994 at his hometown club SV Wermelskirchen, and as a youth he went through Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Wuppertaler SV Borussia and Schalke 04. He turned professional in 2007 with TuS Koblenz and made his 2. Bundesliga debut against 1. FC Köln on 23 September 2007. He joined Eintracht Trier in 2009 but was moved down to the reserves in February 2010.

In 2010 he signed for SpVgg Greuther Fürth. In 2011-12, when the team won promotion to the Bundesliga, he made 27 league appearances and provided five assists. He came to İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor at the mid-point of 2012-13, set up the only goal against Fenerbahçe, but could not stop the team's relegation. In 2013-14 he was an important part of the side that won the 1. Lig and returned to the Süper Lig. He then spent a season at İstanbul Başakşehir, the club renamed in that period.

In July 2015 he moved to Karşıyaka in search of more playing time. He left in the summer of 2018 and returned to Germany to play for Mittelrheinliga club Borussia Freialdenhoven. He plays as a midfielder or forward.
