Nymphomaniac (İtiraf)

Nymphomaniac, released in Turkey as İtiraf, is a 2013 erotic drama written and directed by Lars von Trier and presented in two volumes. The story centers on Joe, a self-described nymphomaniac who, after being found beaten in an alley, recounts her erotic life from adolescence to adulthood to Seligman, the bachelor who takes her in. Her confessions unfold across eight chapters, with Charlotte Gainsbourg and Stacy Martin sharing the lead role at different ages. The ensemble also includes Stellan Skarsgård, Shia LaBeouf, Christian Slater, Jamie Bell, Uma Thurman and Willem Dafoe. Von Trier originally conceived the project as a single film but split it in two because of its exceptional length; a full director's cut runs around five and a half hours. An international co-production involving Denmark, France, Germany and Belgium, the uncut first volume premiered at the 2014 Berlin Film Festival and the second at Venice that same year. It closes von Trier's informal Depression Trilogy, following Antichrist and Melancholia.
