One Hundred and One Nights (Les Cent et Une Nuits de Simon Cinéma)
One Hundred and One Nights is a 1995 French-British comedy written and directed by Agnès Varda; its original French title is Les Cent et Une Nuits de Simon Cinéma. It is a light-hearted look at a hundred years of commercial cinema and a tribute to it, celebrating in image and sound favourite films from France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States. It runs 101 minutes and was released on 25 January 1995.
The film was entered into the 45th Berlin International Film Festival. Its most striking feature is a star-studded cast: alongside Marcello Mastroianni, Michel Piccoli, Catherine Deneuve, Fanny Ardant, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Jean-Claude Brialy, Jeanne Moreau, Hanna Schygulla and Jean-Pierre Léaud appear Julie Gayet, Mathieu Demy, Anouk Aimée, Sandrine Bonnaire, Alain Delon and Gérard Depardieu. Clint Eastwood is said to have made a small cameo, after which he reportedly appeared only in films he directed himself.
