Storm Rider
Storm Rider, originally released as Il grande duello and also known as The Grand Duel or The Big Showdown, is a 1972 spaghetti Western directed by Giancarlo Santi, who had previously served as Sergio Leone's assistant director on The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and Once Upon a Time in the West. Written by Ernesto Gastaldi, the Italian-language production was a co-production between Italy, Germany and France, backed by Terra Film and Société Nouvelle de Cinématographie.
The story follows young Philip Vermeer, who is accused of a murder he did not commit and becomes the target of the victim's vengeful children. The only man convinced of his innocence is Clayton, a former sheriff played by Lee Van Cleef, who fights to keep Philip alive and prove his innocence. The roughly 90-minute film premiered in Germany on 29 December 1972.
