The Home

The Home (Swedish: Hemmet) is a 2025 Swedish horror film directed by Mattias Johansson Skoglund, who co-wrote it with Mats Strandberg, adapting Strandberg's 2017 novel of the same name. After a stroke leaves an elderly woman, Monika, in a care home, it gradually becomes clear that something latched onto her during the moments she was clinically dead and has followed her inside. Her son Joel, called back to his hometown to look after her, is drawn into the unease that spreads through the facility. Told in a restrained, quietly eerie register, the film premiered at the SXSW festival in March 2025. Gizem Erdoğan appears alongside Philip Oros and Anki Lidén.
