Burnt Flute (Yanık Kaval) (translated)

Yanık Kaval (Burnt Flute) is a Turkish drama from 1947. Made by Birlik Film, it was shot in black and white on 35 mm stock and reached audiences on 27 January 1947. The story follows a factory owner's frivolous wife and the man who leads her astray. The kaval of the title is a traditional Turkish wind instrument.

In the cast, Talat Artemel plays a mute, hunchbacked musician, Nezihe Becerikli the village girl Gül, Suavi Tedü a character named Osman, and Reşit Gürzap the factory manager. Müfit Kiper, Samiye Hün, Saadettin Erbil, Eyüp Sabri Gülener and Orhan Esen appear alongside them.

Baha Gelenbevi wrote the screenplay and directed, while İskender Necef produced and Kriton İlyadis served as cinematographer. The score is credited to Muhittin Sadak and Sadi Işılay, and the songs feature Müzeyyen Senar, Hacer Buluş and Mustafa Çağlar.
