Burnt Flute (Yanık Kaval) (translated)

Yanık Kaval ("The Burnt Reed Flute") is a 1947 Turkish drama film written and directed by Baha Gelenbevi. Shot in black and white for the production company Birlik Film, it was produced by İskender Necef with cinematography by Kriton İlyadis, and its score was composed by Muhittin Sadak and Sadi Işılay, with songs contributed by Müzeyyen Senar, Hacer Buluş and Mustafa Çağlar. The film opened in cinemas on 27 January 1947.

The drama tells the story of a factory owner's wayward wife and the man who leads her astray.

The cast includes Talat Artemel as a mute, hunchbacked musician, Nezihe Becerikli as the village girl Gül, Suavi Tedü as Osman and Reşit Gürzap as the factory manager, alongside Müfit Kiper, Samiye Hün, Saadettin Erbil, Eyüp Sabri Gülener and Orhan Esen.
