Tuba Önal — Biography

Tuba Önal was born on 25 January 1974 in Istanbul; after primary school she entered a conservatory and graduated from Mimar Sinan University's wind instruments-horn department. She began her career singing jingles for more than a hundred commercials and working as a backing vocalist for various artists.

Two years after competing with "Sevda Bu Dostum" in the 1997 national final, she was selected at TRT's national final, held in Ankara on 12 March 1999 and hosted by Ömer Önder and Gülşah Banda, among ten competing songs, and went on to represent Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest with "Dön Artık", performed together with Grup Mistik, composed by Erdinç Tunç with lyrics by Canan Tunç; she performed seventh on the night and finished 16th of 23 countries with 21 points. Her discography includes the 1999 album "Onun Adı Aşk" and the 2002 single "Söyle Canım", recorded together with Erol Evgin.
