Vincent Perez — Biography

Swiss actor, director and photographer Vincent Perez was born in Lausanne on 10 June 1964, trained first in Geneva and then completed his studies at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique and the school of the Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers in Paris. His breakthrough came opposite Gérard Depardieu as Christian in Cyrano de Bergerac, which brought him a César nomination, and he went on to become one of the leading French actors of the 1990s in films such as Indochine, Fanfan and La Reine Margot. In Hollywood he took the lead role of Ashe Corven in The Crow: City of Angels and played Marius de Romanus in Queen of the Damned, and on television he starred as Lieutenant Vincent Revel in Paris enquêtes criminelles, the French remake of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. From the 2000s he moved into directing, earning two Palme d'Or nominations for short films and directing features such as Lines of Wellington and Colours of Time while continuing to act. He is also a photographer, having exhibited work including a series on Bolshoi Ballet dancers at venues such as the Rencontres d'Arles festival. He is married to French actress Karine Silla.
