Volkan Yılmaz — Biography

Volkan Yılmaz was born on 1 September 1987 in the Bakırköy district of Istanbul. He began playing football in Cedidiye's youth system before moving to Samsunspor's academy, and signed a professional contract in 2004 to join the first-team squad. He made his official debut for Samsunspor on 11 September 2005 in a Turkish Cup match against Gaziantepspor, and played in two Süper Lig matches for the club that season.

In his second season he could only make the reserve team, and was loaned mid-season to Akçaabat Sebatspor for playing experience; he left Samsunspor for İstanbulspor in 2007-08 and, after three seasons there, departed the club amid controversy. He went on to play for Gaziosmanpaşa, Mardinspor and Diyarbakırspor, before joining the first-team squad of First League side Gaziantep Büyükşehir Belediyespor at the start of 2011-12. He moved to Elazığspor in the 2012-13 mid-season transfer window, and in his only Süper Lig appearance for the club, on 14 April 2013, he scored in a win over İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor.

In the middle of the 2013-14 season he signed an eighteen-month contract with MKE Ankaragücü, scoring his first goal for the club on 16 February 2014 in a 4-1 win over Körfez FK. He earned three caps for Turkey's under-18 national team as a youth player, and later in his career moved on to Kartalspor.
