Yalın — Biography

Born Hüseyin Yalın, the singer was born on 30 March 1980 in Istanbul, the nephew of journalist Ferai Tınç; his interest in music began with his father Kamil playing him Gipsy Kings and Enrico Macias songs at home, he wrote his first compositions while at Saint Michel French High School, and he sped up his album work while studying economics at Istanbul Bilgi University. His 2004 debut album Ellerine Sağlık, made with members of the band Kargo, produced the lead single Zalim, which sold 200,000 copies in its first week, rose to fourth on Universal Music's best-seller list behind Guns N' Roses, and won a newcomer award at the Kral TV Video Music Awards; the song was adapted into Albanian, Bulgarian and other languages.

In 2006 a reworked version of his track Değmez appeared, retitled Famous, on Japanese singer Ai's album alongside Shaggy; he went on to record his third album Her Şey Sensin in Los Angeles with renowned musicians including Tim Pierce and Matt Bissonette. Yalın has also written songs for artists such as Gülben Ergen, Serdar Ortaç, Bengü and Sıla, and performed Ünzile with Kenan Doğulu for a Hürriyet campaign against domestic violence. In 2026, following his songwriting credit on Elif Pıtırlı's And İçmişsin, he took the stage with Greek singer Natasa Theodoridou in Harbiye and gave his first-ever concert in Cyprus at the Grand Sapphire.
