Yasin Çakmak — Biography
Yasin Çakmak was born on 6 January 1985 in Rize. A former Turkish international who stands 1.86 m tall, he played as a centre-back. He started out in the youth system of Çaykur Rizespor, turned professional in 2003 and stayed at his hometown club until 2007.
In August 2007 he moved to Fenerbahçe. With the Istanbul side he won the Turkish Super Cup that year and was part of the squad that reached the Champions League quarter-finals in 2007-08. In June 2009, after Fábio Bilica signed for Fenerbahçe, he was sent to Sivasspor. In 2010-11 he signed a one-year contract with Denizlispor; at the end of the season he extended it by two years, but the club terminated the agreement at the start of the new campaign. He later played for Giresunspor, where he suffered a long-term injury in 2014.
The national team called on him early: he was first selected for the senior side for the match against Azerbaijan on 12 April 2006 and made his debut for Turkey in that game. In March 2007 he was named again in the squad for a EURO 2008 qualifier. Çakmak retired from professional football in 2015 at the age of 30.
