Alper Kul — Biography

Alper Kul is a versatile Turkish actor and writer who moves between stage, screen and the page. Wide audiences knew him for years as İsmail Canevimden in Güldür Güldür Show and as Temel in the Sümela'nın Şifresi: Temel films. More recently he has toured a one-man show in Turkey, playing Trabzon in June 2026.

The first phase of his career is theatre. He studied in the Theatre Department of Indiana University and from 1994 worked with groups such as the City Theatres, DOT, IUSB and BKM. He brought Caveman, Broadway's longest-running one-man show, to Turkey for the first time (2009); performed his own Babamın Oğlu for three years in Turkey and Europe, won a Writer of the Year award for AUT, and wrote Barselo. His screen phase began with Hamam (1997) and Kınalı Kar (as Demir), followed by Şen Yuva, Osmanlı Tokadı and Muhteşem Yüzyıl. The third phase was comedy shows: 5'er Beşer, İnsanlar Alemi and, from 2013, Güldür Güldür, whose concepts he also helped design. He left the programme in 2024.

In cinema he wrote and acted in Olur Olur (as Ali) and appeared in films such as Dedemin Fişi, Ölümlü Dünya and Moskova'nın Şifresi: Temel. He published the novel Dışarıdakiler in 2021 and directed the play Kadife Tavşan in 2025. He married actress Aylin Kontente in 2012, and they have two children.
