Asuman Krause — Biography

Asuman Krause was born in Berlin on 1 March 1976 to a German father and a Circassian mother from Adapazarı; her parents had separated by then, and her mother ran a well-known restaurant in the city. She played for Germany's youth national basketball team, ranked among Berlin's ten best players, and also worked as a referee; at seventeen she moved to Turkey with her mother and finished high school in Bodrum. Fluent in four languages -- Turkish, German, French and English -- she worked in Ankara for the German airline Aero Lloyd, starting in ticketing before moving into reporting and eventually supervision, ahead of entering a beauty pageant.

After competing in Kanal D's Miss Turkey pageant in 1998, Krause began modelling, and in 2002 she took part in a themed calendar, "Zaman ve Zamansızlık," for the Swiss watch brand Maurice Lacroix; English-language sources also credit her with the Miss Congeniality award at Miss Universe. She moved into television in 2005 by hosting Yaz Sabahı, made her acting debut that same year in the film Sen Ne Dilersen, then took roles in Dikkat Şahan Çıkabilir and, opposite Metin Şentürk, Sonradan Görme; in 2006 she gave up modelling for a singing career, releasing the album Çok Yalnızım, followed by Kukla in 2008.

As a presenter she first fronted Wipe Out and Fear Factor Extreme, then Var Mısın Yok Musun, before hosting Big Brother Türkiye in 2015-2016 and Aileler Yarışıyor from 2021 to 2025; since 2026 she has presented Hayat Güzeldir on Star TV.
