Beyazıt Öztürk — Biography

Beyazıt Öztürk, widely known simply as Beyaz, is a Turkish television and radio presenter, stand-up comedian, showman and actor. He was born on 12 March 1969 in Bolu and, because his father was a police officer, completed his schooling in various Anatolian towns. He studied ceramics and sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Eskişehir Anadolu University, where he began doing amateur radio and first used the nickname 'Beyaz' under his cartoons in the satirical magazine Gına. An offer from Radyo Klas brought him to Istanbul and into professional broadcasting. From 1996 to 2018 he hosted the talk show Beyaz Show for 22 years, which made him famous nationwide despite his inability to pronounce the letter 'r'; he later moved into stand-up comedy. In 2018 he joined the jury of O Ses Türkiye, the Turkish version of The Voice. As an actor he appeared in films such as Nihavend Mucize, Dansöz, Sır Çocukları, O Şimdi Mahkum, Hacivat Karagöz Neden Öldürüldü? and Eyvah Eyvah 2, and in series including Yalan Dünya, Karım ve Annem and Jet Sosyete. He currently hosts Beyaz'la Joker on Kanal D.
