Clara Vodă — Biography

Born in Constanța in 1970, Clara Vodă has built a career of nearly three decades into one of the most internationally recognised faces of Romanian cinema. Her recurring collaboration with director Cristi Puiu forms the defining thread of that career: she appeared in Moartea domnului Lăzărescu, a landmark of the Romanian New Wave, and later in his film Aurora.

Working across stage, screen and voice roles, she has also carried her filmography beyond Romania through international co-productions such as the Italian film Diaz – Don't Clean Up This Blood and Nightfall in India, alongside domestic titles including Loverboy and İyi Niyetler. Active in more than twenty films since 1995, Vodă continues to work as an actress today.
