Doğan Koloğlu — Biography

Mebruk Doğan Koloğlu (16 May 1927, Sürmene – 13 November 2013) was a Turkish footballer, football manager, sports writer and administrator.

Born in Sürmene in 1927, Doğan Koloğlu completed his primary, secondary and high school education at Galatasaray High School. Koloğlu, who served Galatasaray as a player, administrator and coach, also served as the 2nd Chairman of the Galatasaray Executive Board (Divan Kurulu). He coached Beyoğluspor in 1963–1964 and Feriköy in 1964. In 1975, while temporarily managing Galatasaray after coach Jack Mansell left the team, he won the championship in the Prime Ministry Cup.

Koloğlu, who worked as head of the sports desk at the Hürriyet newspaper and also worked for the Akşam, Milliyet, Sabah and Vatan newspapers, was one of the founding members of the Turkish Sports Writers Association (TSYD). Doğan Koloğlu also served as the general president of the TSYD between 1981 and 1984.

Koloğlu died on 13 November 2013 at the hospital where he was being treated. His father was governor Sadullah Koloğlu, and his brother is the journalist and historian Orhan Koloğlu. He was buried at the Zincirlikuyu Cemetery.
