Erdal Küçükkömürcü — Biography

Erdal Küçükkömürcü is a longtime actor of the Ankara State Theatre, a man of the theatre who has worked for more than forty years on stage, in the classroom and in front of the camera. A wide audience knows him from series such as Gülşen Abi, Yılan Hikayesi, Sefirin Kızı and Evlilik Hakkında Her Şey. In 2026 the film Çatlı was released and he joined the cast of the Kanal D series Daha 17.

After graduating from the Ankara State Conservatory in 1981 he joined the Ankara State Theatre. He played in classic and modern texts such as Kral Lear, Üç Kız Kardeş, Woyzeck, Cadı Kazanı and Satıcının Ölümü, and directed plays including Kuzguncuklu Fazilet, Nafile Dünya and Palto. His role in Satıcının Ölümü earned him the most successful actor of the year prize at the 2015-2016 Sadri Alışık Anatolian Theatre Actor Awards; the Art Lovers Association (1991, 2005) and the Turkish Critics' Association (1993) had also named him best actor.

Teaching is the second strand of his career: he taught at METU and at Hacettepe, Anadolu, Ankara and Başkent universities, gave seminars on voice and diction, and now teaches acting at Bilkent University. In 2005 he served on the literary board of the State Theatres. On screen he has been in Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu, Eşkıya Dünyaya Hükümdar Olmaz (as the intelligence officer Davut), Kirli Sepeti and Mehmed: Fetihler Sultanı, and on film in Devrim Arabaları, Kaybedenler Kulübü, Labirent and Benim Dünyam.
