Erman Saban — Biography
Erman Saban is a Macedonian actor of Turkish descent whose work stretches from Skopje to Turkish productions. He is best known for Muhittin in Özer Kızıltan's film Takva and for Dilaver, the district governor of Pürsıçan, in the series Elveda Rumeli; in 2022 he played Zafer in Balkan Ninnisi, a TRT 1 series filmed in North Macedonia.
Born in 1983 in Skopje, then part of Yugoslavia, he graduated from the Acting Department of the Skopje Faculty of Dramatic Arts and performs at the Skopje Turkish Theatre with his older brother Ertan Saban. The turning point came in 2005: when a team from Turkey stopped by the theatre to watch Turkish actors in Macedonia, his performance caught their attention and he was cast in Takva, in which Erkan Can and Güven Kıraç share the leads; the film was released in 2006. He appeared in all three seasons of Elveda Rumeli (2007-2009); the series was among the best-loved productions of its time.
In later years he turned up in Turkish series such as Muhteşem Yüzyıl, Hatasız Kul Olmaz, Son Yaz: Balkanlar 1912 and Büyük Sürgün: Kafkasya (as Mikail Gelashvili). His work at home includes the film Acı Kiraz The Hardest Thing (as Ljuljzim) and Lemonade. Besides acting, he has worked as a casting director on some productions.
