Eva Robin's — Biography

Eva Robin's was born Roberto Maurizio Coatti on 10 December 1958 in Bologna, Italy, and has worked in Italian film, modelling and singing, occasionally credited on screen as Eva Coatti. She is best remembered for her part in Dario Argento's 1982 horror film Tenebrae, and went on to appear in titles including Hercules, The Adventures of Hercules, Massacre Play, the series Valentina and Luna e l'altra.

By her own account she began to feel female from around the age of thirteen; at sixteen a transgender neighbour introduced her to hormone treatment, and by twenty-one she was living as a trans woman. She has said she has no interest in gender-reassignment surgery and feels at ease with her body. She took her stage name from Eva Kant, a character in the Diabolik comics, combined with novelist Harold Robbins, later adopting the "Robin's" spelling after seeing it written that way while on holiday in Sardinia. A friendship with actor Paolo Villaggio brought her into contact with figures such as Marta Marzotto and Bianca Jagger.
