Görkem Yeltan — Biography

Görkem Yeltan was born on 17 January 1977 in Nazilli. After Nazilli Lisesi, she began acting with the Ali Poyrazoğlu Theatre while studying literature at Istanbul University, and graduated from the theatre department of the Istanbul University State Conservatory in 1999. She made her screen debut in 1993 in the series Süper Baba and became known for playing Ayşe in Kara Melek; she also appeared in series such as Yılan Hikâyesi, Ruhsar and Davetsiz Misafir.

As part of its writing team, she won Best Actress at the Adana Golden Boll festival and Best Screenplay at the Istanbul Film Festival for Uzak İhtimal (2009), and won Best Actress again at Golden Boll for Eylül (2011). She moved into directing with Yemekteydik ve Karar Verdim (2015), which she also wrote and starred in; she wrote Dört Köşeli Üçgen in 2018, and wrote and directed Bağcık in 2019. Also a published children's author, Yeltan was legally adopted in 2026 by musician Mehmet Güreli, whom she had long regarded as a spiritual father.
