Hande Erçel — Biography

Hande Erçel is among the most visible Turkish actors to have taken domestic television to an international market. She became known worldwide as Eda Yıldız in the romantic comedy Sen Çal Kapımı, which was sold to around ninety countries. Alongside acting she is prominent as a brand ambassador and is described as the most-followed Turkish actress on Instagram.

Born in Bandırma, she studied Traditional Turkish Arts at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and placed second at the Miss Civilization of the World pageant in Azerbaijan in 2012. She began acting in supporting roles around 2013-2014; after Hayat Ağacı and Çılgın Dersane Üniversitede came her first major breakthrough in 2015-2016 as Selin in Güneşin Kızları. As Hayat Uzun in Aşk Laftan Anlamaz she won the Golden Butterfly for best female comedy actress and gained fans abroad. Siyah İnci, Halka and Azize followed, with Sen Çal Kapımı (2020-2021) the biggest of them.

She then moved toward drama, playing prosecutor Leyla Gediz in Bambaşka Biri (2023-2024), which received the Rose d'Or and Seoul International Drama Awards. Her first feature, the 2024 historical drama Mest-i Aşk, broke box-office records. In 2025 she led Netflix's Rüzgara Bırak and played Meyra in atv's Aşk ve Gözyaşı. She has been the face of brands such as L'Oréal, Nocturne and Pomellato.
