Hatice Şendil — Biography

Born on 2 August 1983 in Istanbul to a family of Thessaloniki and Morea immigrant descent, Hatice Şendil was raised in Antalya by an Istanbulite mother and an Antalya-born father; she studied business at university and worked for a time as a model. In 2001 she placed third in Miss Turkey and fourth in the Miss Europe pageant, appeared in a music video that year, and began taking acting and horse-riding lessons. Between 2008 and 2010 she played Ebru Alemdar in Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu, then became widely known as Gülhayat in Karadağlar. Her 2012 leading role in Dila Hanım marked a turning point, she starred opposite Özcan Deniz in Kaderimin Yazıldığı Gün in 2014, and moved into film with Hayat Öpücüğü in 2015. She married producer and actor Burak Sağyaşar on 31 May 2015, and their son Can was born in 2017, the same year she lost her father in a traffic accident in Antalya. After a break from acting following motherhood, she returned to the screen in Uyanış: Büyük Selçuklu (2020) as Terken Hatun and in İyilik (2022).
