Jasmine Trinca — Biography

Jasmine Trinca, born in Rome on 24 April 1981, is an Italian actress who has also moved into directing and screenwriting. She began her career as Irene Sermonti in Nanni Moretti's 2001 film The Son's Room, winning the Guglielmo Biraghi Prize for best new talent; in 2004 she took a Nastro d'Argento for The Best of Youth, and in 2006 reunited with Moretti on The Caiman.

Roles in Manuale d'amore and Romanzo Criminale, both from 2005, raised her profile further, and she went on to appear in Piano, solo, House of Tolerance, Miele, Wondrous Boccaccio, The Gunman, Tommaso, Fortunata, Lucky, Euforia and The Goddess of Fortune, then starred in Ferzan Özpetek's Diamonds (2024), a major box-office hit in Italy. In 2022 she made her directorial debut with Marcel!, which premiered at the 75th Cannes Film Festival, and she was later cast to play Maria Montessori in a biopic of the educator's life. In June 2024 she was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and that same year wore a Palestinian flag pin on the Cannes red carpet as a gesture of support. Her honors to date include a David di Donatello, several Nastro d'Argento awards, a Ciak d'Oro, and the Marcello Mastroianni Award at the Venice Film Festival.
