Carmine Recano — Biography

Carmine Recano grew up in Naples' Secondigliano district; his father baked bread for a living and his mother kept house. He drifted into acting almost by accident — at seventeen he went along to a friend's audition and ended up trying out himself — and made his screen debut in 2001 with The Ignorant Fairies. His widest recognition, though, came from playing Commander Massimo Esposito in the television series The Sea Beyond (Mare Fuori) from 2020 to 2023. A frequent collaborator of director Ferzan Özpetek, he played Domenico in Naples in Veils, took roles in The Goddess of Fortune and Diamonds, and drew notice for the 2010 film Loose Cannons. In 2025 he was cast as Massimiliano Tamburi in Sara: Woman in the Shadows. He married Donatella Tipaldi in 2024, and the couple now have two children.
