Jeanne Pérez — Biography

Born Guilhemine Farenc, the actress who worked under the name Jeanne Pérez came into the world on 28 September 1894 in the French town of Castelsarrasin and died on 11 May 1975 in Cambo-les-Bains. Active from 1930 until her death, a span of more than four decades, she appeared in seventy-one films, television movies and series without ever taking a leading role, building a reputation on memorable supporting parts.

She played Madame Chaunier in Le Beau Serge, a cleaning woman in The Cousins, Marie in Crésus, Marthe in The Gigolo, Mother Capitaine in Where the Truth Lies, Balionte in Thérèse Desqueyroux, a Breton countrywoman in Circus Angel and a gossiping neighbour in A Murder Is a Murder, frequently cast as a maid, a neighbour or an elderly woman. She also appeared in classics such as Classe tous risques, Diary of a Chambermaid and Devil in the Flesh, and closed out her career with Le concierge in her final years.
