Lucia Mascino — Biography

Lucia Mascino is an Italian stage, film and television actress, born on 27 January 1977 in Ancona. While studying mathematics, physics and natural sciences at university, she earned an acting diploma from a theatre research centre in Pontedera, then left her studies to join the Teatro Settimo in Turin. Between 2000 and 2005 she performed Kafka and Ovid adaptations with Giorgio Barberio Corsetti's company, and in 2007 she won the ETI New Sensitivity Award for a piece she wrote and performed herself, Io sono Internazionale.

She moved into film from 2005 onward, reaching wider audiences through Nanni Moretti's We Have a Pope. For a Francesca Comencini film she won the Anna Magnani Award at the Bifest in Bari, and she has since appeared in Il rosso e il blu, La prima pietra, Holiday on Mars, The Wedding Days and Anna, as well as the television series Suburra and Bang Bang Baby.
