Roberto Citran — Biography
Roberto Citran was born on 26 January 1955 in Padua; he studied psychology, founded the university film club CinemaUno, and then set up a small theatre company, "Punto e Virgola," before moving into acting.
He is best known for his work with fellow Paduan director Carlo Mazzacurati, who gave him his first leading role in The Handsome Priest in 1989; Citran later won a Volpi Cup for Best Supporting Actor for Mazzacurati's The Bull in 1994. He played Unverdorben in The Truce, adapted from Primo Levi's memoir, Adriano Milani in Don Milani, and Monsignor Loris Capovilla in The Good Pope, about Pope John XXIII.
Still working after more than three decades in film, Citran played a hotel manager in Diabolik (2021) and Cardinal Pineider in The Wedding Days (2022).
