Michel Boisrond — Biography
A former apprentice of Jean Delannoy, Jean Cocteau and René Clair, Michel Boisrond made his full directorial debut in 1955 with Cette Sacrée Gamine, starring Brigitte Bardot. Known in the industry for his reliability and skillful craftsmanship, he worked chiefly in comedy, romance and comedy-drama.
Films such as Une Parisienne, Faibles femmes, Le Chemin des écoliers, Les Parisiennes, Comment réussir en amour and Comment épouser un premier ministre carried his prolific cinema career from the mid-1950s into the 1970s, closing that phase with Catherine et Cie in 1975. From 1977 he turned to television, directing series and miniseries including Les Folies Offenbach, Marie Curie, une femme honorable and Police des polices; one of his last directing credits was Le Bon Plaisir in 1984. He also took a small acting role in Jean-Pierre Melville's Le Samouraï.
Married to screenwriter Annette Wademant, Boisrond was born on 9 October 1921 in Châteauneuf-en-Thymerais and died on 10 November 2002 in La Celle-Saint-Cloud.
