Okan Öztürk — Biography
Okan Öztürk was born on 30 November 1977 in Merzifon, a district of Amasya province. A striker standing 1.84 m, he began in the youth system of his hometown club Merzifonspor and started his professional career there in 1995. Before the 1996-97 season he moved to Türk Telekom (then P.T.T.), and went on to play for Altay, Batman Petrolspor, Siirt Jetpaspor, Çaykur Rizespor and Gençlerbirliği. He spent seven seasons in the Süper Lig, making more than 200 league appearances and scoring over 50 goals.
His greatest individual honour was sharing the top-scorer title of the Turkish Cup in 1999-2000. He joined Karşıyaka at the start of 2009-10 and scored 13 goals that first season, though injuries limited his playing time the next year. In 2011 he moved to Bozüyükspor and in 2012 to Yeni Malatyaspor.
He is most closely associated with Çaykur Rizespor. His 127 Süper Lig appearances make him the club's fourth most-capped player in the top flight, and his 28 league goals are the most any Rizespor player has scored there; fans and the club regard him as one of the most important figures in its history.
