Özgür Ozan — Biography

Özgür Ozan is the actor known for playing Chief Inspector Hüsnü Çoban for years in Arka Sokaklar, one of Turkish television's longest-running police dramas, a role spanning 2006 to 2026. Before it, he was already a familiar comic face as the mildly henpecked Selami of Çocuklar Duymasın.

His route to acting ran through basketball: he played professionally until 1985, spent a short time at Ankara Sanat Tiyatrosu, then studied acting at Dokuz Eylül University, working as an entertainer for pocket money as a student. He appeared with the İzmir State Theatre, İzmir Children's Theatre, the International Theatre Company, the Adana and Bursa State Theatres, and Istanbul's Pınar Children's Theatre. He entered television as the postman on Susam Sokağı, turned to comedy with Reyting Hamdi in 2002, and reached a wide audience the same year with Çocuklar Duymasın (and its follow-up Çocuklar Ne Olacak, until 2005). Arka Sokaklar, from 2006, became the centre of his career, though he also appeared in Kavak Yelleri, Sonsuz and, in 2022, Aşk Taktikleri, and made guest appearances as Hüsnü Çoban in other productions.

He attended high school in Ankara. In recent months his remarks about the series' future and the filming of its season finale in Cappadocia have been in the news.
