Selen Soyder — Biography

Born Mükerrem Selen Soyder, she came into the world on 26 December 1986 in the Alsancak district of İzmir, the only child of a family descended from immigrants from Ioannina, and lost her father at the age of seven. She studied history at Istanbul Bilgi University. In 2006 she was chosen Turkey's top model at Miss Model of Turkey and won the Best National Costume award at Miss Bikini of the Universe in China; in 2007 she was crowned Miss Turkey, represented the country at Miss World 2007 in Sanya, and modelled for Vakko that same year. After returning from language study in Canada in 2009, she trained as a newsreader at her father's urging and briefly presented news for Star TV's team under Uğur Dündar and Yılmaz Özdil before moving into acting. Her character Toprak, introduced in the 2010 series Yer Gök Aşk, carried over into the same producer's Lale Devri in 2012, a first for Turkish television, and the role earned her two awards. In 2014 she played Dr. Zeynep in Reaksiyon. She married businessman Oren Fransez in 2015 and announced their divorce in 2022, and in 2023 she appeared in the series Kendi Düşen Ağlamaz and the digital production Rüyanda Görürsün.
