Şeyma Korkmaz — Biography

Şeyma Korkmaz is an actress remembered above all as Feride in Star TV's long-running Beni Affet, who then moved into historical drama and reached a new audience as Mari in Kuruluş Osman. Born in Eskişehir, she is now also associated with contemporary series such as Kardeşlerim and Bir Küçük Gün Işığı.

She came to acting from a background in painting: she studied in the painting department of the Fine Arts High School in Çanakkale, trained as an art teacher at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University and worked as a photo model as a student. Her first screen part was Yağmur in Hayata Beş Kala in 2011; the same year she joined Beni Affet and played Feride for eight seasons. The role led to her being named best actress of the Middle East and North Africa in 2018. Her first film was Öyle yada Böyle in 2015. She then turned to period series: Kuruluş Osman (2019) and Barbaros (2021). She left Kuruluş Osman in 2022 when the story of her character Mari ended; that year she played Sude in Bir Küçük Gün Işığı, and in 2023 Süreyya in Kardeşlerim.

She got engaged to fellow actor Cüneyt Mete in 2018 and married him in 2019.
