Sinan Akkuş — Biography
Sinan Akkuş was born on 17 December 1971 in Erzincan and moved to Germany with his family in 1973. After finishing secondary school in Kassel, he studied philosophy and German language and literature, then began a visual-communication programme focused on film and television in 1994, graduating from the Kassel School of Art in 2000 after an exchange year at a film school in Cuba.
His short film Lassie (2002) and his feature debut Evet, I Do! (2008) both received the German Film and Media Board's "particularly valuable" rating, and his second feature, 3 Türken und ein Baby (2015), was nominated for the 2015 Civis Media Prize. On screen he played the character Sinan Turculu in the series Stromberg and its film spin-off Stromberg – The Movie (2014), and appeared in Dear Courtney (2013); in later years he has directed numerous German television films and series.
