A Season of Giants is a 1990 American-Italian biographical television film directed by Jerry London. Adapted from Vincenzo Labella's book Una stagione di giganti, it follows the early life of the Florentine artist Michelangelo, covering the period roughly from 1492 to 1508. The story portrays his youth and first steps into art, his friendships with Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael, and his entanglement in the major political and religious events of his era. Produced by RAI together with Turner Entertainment and broadcast on Rai 1, the production runs about 200 minutes and was presented as a three-part miniseries; it was also released under the titles La primavera di Michelangelo and Michelangelo: The Last Giant. Mark Frankel plays Michelangelo, with a supporting cast that includes F. Murray Abraham, Ian Holm, Steven Berkoff, Vernon Dobtcheff and Alessandro Gassmann. The film traces the rise of a young genius against the artistic and political turbulence of Renaissance Italy.
