Black Gold

Black Gold is a 2011 Nigerian drama film co-produced and directed by Jeta Amata. It follows a local community in the Niger Delta as it fights both its own government and a multinational oil company that has ravaged their land and damaged the environment around it. Filming took place in the Niger Delta and in Los Angeles.

The ensemble cast includes Sarah Wayne Callies and Michael Madsen alongside Billy Zane, Vivica A. Fox, Eric Roberts, Tom Sizemore, Mickey Rourke and Hakeem Kae-Kazim. Amata later reworked the picture and re-released it in 2012 under the title Black November, reshooting roughly sixty percent of the footage and adding new scenes to keep the story feeling current.
