BloodRayne

Set in eighteenth-century Romania, the film follows Rayne, a young woman living with a circus troupe who tastes human blood while defending herself from an attacker. The incident forces her to confront the truth about herself: she is a dhampir, born of a human mother and a vampire father. In time she stops feeding on humans and instead hunts vampires, becoming the warrior known as BloodRayne. When she crosses paths with two vampire hunters, she learns her past — the vampire king Kagan raped and murdered her mother — and sets out on a quest for revenge against her own father.

Loosely based on the video game franchise from Majesco and Terminal Reality, the film was Uwe Boll's third video game adaptation after House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark. Kristanna Loken stars alongside Ben Kingsley, Michael Madsen, Michelle Rodriguez, Billy Zane and Udo Kier. Premiering at the Austin Film Festival in 2005, it was savaged by critics, earned only a fraction of its budget at the box office, and was still followed by two poorly received sequels.
