Der Schuh des Manitu

Der Schuh des Manitu is a 2001 German comedy directed by Michael Herbig and produced by Constantin Film. A parody of Karl May's Winnetou novels and the Western films they inspired, it follows the Apache chief Abahachi and his cowboy blood brother as they set out to recover a buried treasure and settle a tribal debt before a band of outlaws can seize it first. Hilmi Sözer appears as the Greek innkeeper Dimitri. With around 11.7 million admissions, it became one of the most successful German films of the post-war era and launched a lasting comedy franchise for Herbig.
