Genius

Genius is an American biographical anthology drama series developed by Noah Pink and Kenneth Biller for National Geographic. Each season dramatizes the life of a different groundbreaking figure. The first season premiered on 25 April 2017 and traced the life of Albert Einstein, from his youth and his years as a patent clerk to his later fame as the physicist behind the theory of relativity; it was adapted from Walter Isaacson's 2007 biography. Geoffrey Rush portrayed the older Einstein, with Johnny Flynn as his younger self. The second season, broadcast in 2018, centered on the life and art of Pablo Picasso, played by Antonio Banderas. The third season, which aired in March 2021, focused on American singer Aretha Franklin after plans to feature Mary Shelley were dropped during development. A fourth season, announced in December 2020, followed the lives of Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X and debuted on Disney+ on 1 February 2024. Over its run, the series earned numerous nominations and honors, including Primetime Emmy Awards.
