Grey's Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy is an American medical drama created by Shonda Rhimes that premiered on ABC on March 27, 2005. The series follows surgical interns, residents, and attending physicians at the fictional Seattle Grace Hospital — later renamed Grey Sloan Memorial — as they grow into experienced surgeons while struggling to balance their personal lives and relationships. Its title plays on the surname of protagonist Meredith Grey and the classic anatomy textbook Gray's Anatomy by Henry Gray.

Although set in Seattle, the show is filmed primarily in Los Angeles. Centered for most of its run on Meredith Grey, played by Ellen Pompeo, it has won numerous honors including Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy Awards, and became the longest-running scripted primetime series in ABC's history. Its success spawned two spin-offs, Private Practice (2007–2013) and Station 19 (2018–2024), and the show has continued past its 22nd season.
