Infection
Infection (original title Infekcija) is a Croatian feature film from 2003, directed by Krsto Papić. Running roughly 105 minutes, it stands in direct relation to the director's 1976 cult picture The Rat Savior: it has been characterized both as a sequel to that film and as a remake of it, with Papić returning decades later to the dark world of his earlier work and reimagining it in a new form. The screenplay was written by Mate Matišić. The cast includes Leon Lučev, Lucija Šerbedžija, Sven Medvešek, Filip Šovagović, Ivo Gregurević, Dejan Aćimović, Boris Miholjević and Ana Karić. The film is regarded as one of the rare Croatian ventures into fantastic and horror territory, and as a late-career work in which Papić consciously engaged in a dialogue with one of his best-known earlier films, revisiting its themes for a new era of Croatian cinema.
