A Tale of Three Sisters (Kız Kardeşler)

A Tale of Three Sisters (Kız Kardeşler) is a 2019 Turkish drama film written and directed by Emin Alper. It premiered in the main competition of the 69th Berlin International Film Festival, where it contended for the Golden Bear.

The story follows Reyhan, Nurhan and Havva, three sisters from an Anatolian village who lose their mother at a young age. Sent off as foster children to families in town, the sisters fail to settle into their new homes and are, one by one, returned to their father's house over the years. Reunited in their village as young women, they are forced to confront the realities they had fled and the different hopes and disappointments each of them carries. The film stars Cemre Ebüzziya, Ece Yüksel and Helin Kandemir, with Müfit Kayacan and Kayhan Açıkgöz in supporting roles.
